Neuropathy

What is Neuropathy?

Neuropathy means your nerves are breaking down not working right. Neuropathy can be all over your body, or it can be in just one spot.

There are two kinds of neuropathy that affect many parts of your body:

  • Peripheral Neuropathy: This affects your hands and feet.
  • Autonomic Neuropathy: This affects your organs.

Here we treat peripheral neuropathy. This is the most common kind. It affects the nerves in your arms and legs, especially your feet and usually on both sides of your body. It is progressive, meaning it can get worse with time and the area affected will expand without treatment.

Some things that can happen with Peripheral Neuropathy are:

  1.  You might not feel pain or hot and cold sensations.
  2. You might feel tingling, burning, or pins and needles.
  3. You might have sharp pains or cramps. It might feel like you are walking on sponges.
  4. Light touch can cause intense pain.
  5. You might have trouble keeping your balance.

These things often feel worse at night.
